New idea to have fresh flowers around all the time. Ideally grown locally which isn't so hard here in California. At present I have a bouquet of lovely white irises on my desk.
I once asked a Russian Orthodox priest why they pray to icons and paintings. He said it isn't prayer to them directly, but is like how we westerners use music in services. The beauty draws our attention heavenward.
